Due to the faith commitment of so many parents at Sacred Heart in Haworth, St. Joseph in Demarest and St. Mary in Closter, quality Catholic education is ensured in our portion of the Northern Valley. As the Board of Pastors, we encourage you to consider enrolling your child or children in the Catholic Academy of Northern Valley, where each child’s education is enriched with spirituality.

The Catholic Academy is the socially vibrant, academically challenging, spiritual hub of education for children in Pre-K 3 through 8th grade on this side of the Northern Valley. The Early Learning Center meets each child where they are, and helps them become the best they can be. It is not uncommon at all for CANV kids to enter first grade reading, writing and exploring arithmetic. Further, and perhaps more importantly, they know their prayers and delight their families with songs of the spirit!

The Center for Educational Advancement for children in grades 1 through 8 is earning ‘straight A’s’ in Academics, Arts and Athletics. The merger of our three parishes has enabled the parochial school to offer more and better programming than ever before. We are proud to sponsor such spiritually-minded academic excellence.

The parishioners of St. Joseph in Demarest, Sacred Heart in Haworth, and St. Mary in Closter worked diligently during the spring and summer of 2004, combining their energies, talents, financial resources and prayers to ensure the continued viability of quality Catholic education in our parishes. With the support, guidance, consent and approval of the Archbishop and the school office of the Archdiocese of Newark, the principal, administration and faculty of the Catholic Academy of Northern Valley officially began serving July 1, 2004. It was, and continues to be, a shining example of community, fellowship and mission. Members of the Catholic Academy of Northern Valley community cannot help but ‘Catch the Spirit!’
