Mission
We, the faculty and staff of Catholic Academy of Northern Valley, share with the families of our students the mission of Jesus in providing for the education of the whole child. As a school faith community, we exist to nurture the spiritual, moral, intellectual, physical and social growth of our students.
We will provide a warm and caring environment conducive to the spiritual and academic growth and development of the child by preparing and participating in liturgies for the school community on a regular basis throughout the year, and by utilizing every opportunity to reaffirm each child's self-worth through positive reinforcement.
Based on the gospel message of justice, peace and love, we will develop among ourselves and the students a reverence for all life, respect for self, others and God, and responsibility for our actions. We will do this by involving the students in activities that impact the betterment of the individual, the community and the world, i.e., food drives, projects, contests, etc., and by helping the students to recognize, identify, and develop their individual gifts and talents, and appreciate them in others.
The Roman Catholic Elementary and Secondary schools of the Archdiocese of Newark admit students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. These do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of their educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school administered programs.
Philosophy
Catholic Academy of Northern Valley has as its all-embracing purpose the formation of new generations of Catholic American men and women aware of their Christian spiritual heritage and the fundamental basis of their democratic system of government. The Christian spiritual heritage is founded on the Catholic philosophy of education, which regards man as a human person composed of body and spirit, created by God to enjoy an eternal destiny.
Believing that ‘children come first’, we are dedicated to creating a learning environment permeated with dignity, respect, and Christian love. We believe that scholastic achievement at the top level of one’s capacity should be the goal of every student and the motivating force behind teacher preparation and presentation. Together with parents, the prime educators of their children, we encourage each student to grow spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, physically, socially and culturally.
At Catholic Academy, appreciative of our cultural diversity, we endeavor through our programs to inspire and assist the students on their journey to Christian maturity and educational success in the midst of a complex society.
We, Catholic Academy of Northern Valley - faculty, staff, priests, parishioners, parents, students and administration - are a faith-filled community united as pilgrim people journeying through this life with a constant focus on the next.
Accepting the commission, ‘To Teach As Jesus Did’, we pledge ourselves to minister to each student in the Mystical Body of Christ.
We are here to pass on the Legacy of Faith, to have our students become sharers of this gift of faith, so as to be a leaven in our society, as they strive to attain their potential.
